New Spirit Band & Ice Cream Social

Event Details

oMT CARROLL FIRST EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH PRESENTS: New Spirit Band at Ice Cream Social, 2:00pm, June 25!

The New Spirit Band will be performing at an ice cream social on June 25, 2017 at 2:00pm in the courtyard in downtown Mt. Carroll.   A quartet from First will open the program performing a few of their own favorites.

The New Spirit Band is a musical group that was formed twenty-five years ago as part of St. John’s Church in Savanna.  For the past ten years, they have become ecumenical, sharing their contemporary Christian music in many different churches throughout northwest Illinois and eastern Iowa.  Today’s band members represent four different religious denominations, hail from six different towns, and range in age from high schoolers to retirees.  The goal of New Spirit is to give praise to God through meditative and uplifting contemporary Christian music.

The quartet from First Lutheran includes JoLyn Kruse, Maddie Olson, Hannah Walters, and Alan Schroeder.  The four have joined together just for this event and will add further variety to the program with a repertoire that includes both Christian and secular tunes.  Young and old alike will find the program very inspiring.

Plenty of homemade pies with cool, creamy ice cream will be available along with root beer floats. The proceeds will benefit the Riverview Center.  This is one event you won’t want to miss!  Rain location: First Lutheran Sanctuary, 301 South Clay Street.  Questions, call the church office at 815.244.8044.
