Message: The 51st International Woodcarvers Congress.  The International Wood carvers Congress is the longest running woodcarving show and competition in the nation.  Each year brings over 400 new entries from the US, Canada and countries around the world to include England, Mexico, Germany and as far away as Mongolia in the past.  The competition draws many of the top carvers in the world each year, and carvers of all skill levels and styles are represented.  Each entry is an original work of art and many are available for purchase at the show.  Generally there are demonstrations of a variety of carving styles as well as pyrography going on in the competition show room.  The Congress is sponsored by the Affiliated Wood Carvers LTD., a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the art of woodcarving. The event occurs at the Jackson County Fairgrounds, 1212 E. Quarry St. Maquoketa, IA. From Thursday June 15 through Saturday June 17 10AM-5PM and Saturday June 18 from 10AM-4PM. Admission is $5.00 at the Door, Seniors $4.00, and Children under 12 free
with an adult.
