This exhibit is open through July 30. Located at 229-5th Ave. So. in downtown Clinton, the gallery and gift shop offer seven exhibits each year featuring area artists and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 1-4 PM.
The couple were art majors at the University of Iowa where they studied drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and metal smithing. After marriage, Susan then went into dentistry and has a practice in Clinton, while David continued his art. While he worked with many mediums and subjects for years, he now works exclusively in acrylic. This exhibit features his large floral paintings from their gardens. Susan’s forte is drawing and flower gardening, and they are now collaborating on illustrations for a book for children where she does the drawing and he the painting. The inspiration came while their grandson was watching the squirrels and bunnies in the yard, and a mystery about which animal was munching the gladioli. The use of game cameras increases their access to reference material for the flowers and animals that come their way. Along with the large florals, the exhibit features many of the collaborative art works for the upcoming book, and live orchids from her garden.
The public is welcome to attend and there is no charge to view the exhibits. .
