Christmas Walk and Parade Scheduled for Saturday, December 5

The Morrison Chamber of Commerce invites the community to celebrate Christmas at the 28th Annual Christmas Walk on Saturday, December 5. The theme for this year’s event is “Christmas Around the World.”

Some of the events planned for Saturday include delicious church suppers, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, business open houses, local food vendors, caroling, horse drawn wagon rides, a live nativity, showing of the movie “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, the tree lighting ceremony and the always-anticipated lighted parade.

Entry forms for the lighted parade, sponsorship of the event, and other post-parade downtown activities are available on www.morrisonchamber.com and will be accepted through November 30.

In addition, all community members are invited to help us set a Guinness Book World Record at this year’s event! The Chamber of Commerce, along with the city of Morrison, is trying to set the world record for having the largest gathering human snowmen in one location during this year’s Christmas Walk…we need 334 human snowmen to set this record!

In order to qualify, each person MUST wear the following items: a white shirt or sweatshirt, white pants, three black circles for buttons, an orange carrot nose (real, paper or plastic), a scarf and a black top hat. Register for the world record event at www.morrisonsnowmanworldrecord.eventbrite.com. Then thumpety-thump-thump over to the Farmer’s Market Parking lot, located behind Whiteside County Court Services, 204 E. Lincolnway at 4:30 p.m. for some frosty fun!

The Chamber hopes to bring the community together to celebrate all of the wonderful sights, sounds and tastes of Morrison this Christmas season. Plan to attend many of the family-friendly events!
