CLINTON— On February 23-24, 2015, Clinton Public Library will kick off its Job Fair Series. According to Clinton Public Library Director, Brad Wiles, the fairs are intended to provide a forum to help build job searching skills and acquaint job seekers with potential employers in the Clinton area. Subsequent job fairs in the 2015 series are tentatively scheduled for May 18-19, August 17-18, and November 9-10.

The Job Fairs will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the CPL Lyons Branch on 105 Main Avenue in Clinton, Iowa. The fairs will feature a two-day program, with the first day consisting of targeted skills-building sessions and the second day hosting prospective employers.

The skills-building day will include sessions on resume writing, interviewing best practices, basic digital literacy for job-seekers, community employment and education resources, and other aspects of successful contemporary job-seeking. On the following day prospective employers will be invited to use the space to conduct open screenings, interact with specific applicants, or provide information about their organization related to job or career opportunities.

According to Wiles, public libraries are among the most utilized resources for job seekers in communities of all sizes throughout the country. “We observe the numerous obstacles, frustrations, and issues that job-seekers face on a daily basis and the Job Fair Series is largely a response to this situation,” Wiles said.

Space for the first day of the Job Fair is limited and registration is required. Individuals interested in attending should contact Brad Wiles at 563-242-9115 or bwiles@clinton.lib.ia.us. Businesses and organizations interested in participating on the second day of the Job Fair can also contact Wiles for more information.
