Event Details

INCLUDING:  Elf on the Shelf STEM Challenge, Countdown to Christmas, and Last opportunity to see Santa at the Discovery Center

The Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center, “Clinton, Iowa’s Children’s Museum”, is getting in the holiday spirit with these festive activities. On WOW Wednesday, help the elf on the shelf, by using your construction skills, and at Funtime Friday, count down the days until Christmas. On Saturday, Santa Claus is stopping by the Discovery Center for a visit. These programs are free with regular museum admission. The children’s museum is holding its annual Gift Shop Holiday Sale now through December 23. Mark your calendar for their 6th Annual Family New Year’s Eve Party.

Wednesday, December 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. is WOW Wednesday, sponsored by US Bank. Use your building skills to construct a place for the elf on the shelf. This program is geared for school-aged kids and their families.

Friday, December 15, at 10 a.m., is Funtime Friday, sponsored by Clinton Kiwanis Club. Crafty Christmas times await with this fun craft. Take your creation home and count the days ‘til Christmas. As always, a snack is included. This favorite program is designed for preschoolers and their grown-ups, although all age children are welcome.

Saturday, December 16, Santa Claus is stopping in to the Discovery Center from 10 – 11:30 a.m. for a quick visit. It’s the last chance to see him there for the year. Make sure to bring your camera along.

Monday, December 18, is Wendy’s Restaurant Night Fundraiser. Dine in, drive through, or carry out from 5 to 7 p.m. to help support your local children’s museum. Wendy’s will donate 10% of all sales to the Discovery Center.

It’s holiday shopping season, and the Discovery Center is holding its annual Holiday Gift Shop Sale. Shoppers will receive 10% off every item. Additionally, Discovery Center members may take an extra 10%, for a total of 20% off. And because the children’s museum is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit, no sales tax is charged. This special sale goes until December 23. Don’t miss this great opportunity to find unique holiday gifts.

Save the date to celebrate as a family at the 6th Annual Family New Year’s Eve Party, Sunday, December 31, from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., sponsored by Clinton National Bank, The Insurance Group, West Bend Insurance, and Hy-Vee. Every activity earns prize tickets to redeem at the prize booth: games, crafts, science experiments, balloon art, face painting, big inflatable jumpy, and yummy snacks from Hy-Vee. Please note their special hours: the Discovery Center will be CLOSED that day until doors open at 3:00 p.m. Admission is $5 per person, $3 for Discovery Center members, FREE age 1 and younger. All food and activities are included with party admission.

Regular admission to the Discovery Center is $4 per person ages two to 64, $3 per person ages 65 and older, free for children one and younger, and free for members of the children’s museum. Hours are Wednesdays through Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sundays 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
