Mercy Hospice Looking for Volunteers

Event Details

This event finished on 27 February 2018

Mercy Hospice, a service of Mercy Medical Center, is looking for individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families.  Mercy Hospice volunteers call the work inspirational, fulfilling and life changing.  They receive great satisfaction from helping others turn hurt into healing by providing companionship. Volunteers help with a wide variety of tasks.  Whether it’s holding a hand for comfort, reading, playing music, light shopping, providing companionship or offering vigil support, being a Mercy Hospice volunteer offers the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Providing services in Clinton, Jackson, Whiteside and Carroll Counties.  Mercy Hospice volunteers can have a flexible schedule. A training class has been scheduled for February 26 and 27, from 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at Mercy Medical Center – South, for all interested persons and is offered free of charge.

For more information on joining the team or to register for the upcoming training session call the Mercy Hospice Volunteer line at 563-244-5496 or email spainam@mercyhealth.com.

###

The mission of hospice is to provide comfort, support and compassionate care to people with life-limiting illnesses and to their families in a manner that respects the dignity of each individual, and to foster community acceptance that dying is an integral part of living.  Hospice volunteers make this special way of caring possible and are a critical part of the team of professionals who provide that care.
