Miller Program for March Explores Off the Beaten Path Travels in Illinois

Event Details

The Volunteer Millers of Fulton’s de Immigrant windmill plan to host their next monthly event on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 6:00pm.  The program will be held at the Windmill Cultural Center located at 111 – 10th Avenue across from the authentic Dutch windmill.  These events are funded by a grant from D.S. Flikkema Foundation.

“Off the Beaten Path” will be presented by John Purvis of Princeton, IL.  As a native of Bureau county, John has had a long fascination with all types of history; but especially local history.  He has pursued that love through the years with books, magazines, and burgeoning photography.  Now in his mid-50’s and retired due to a disability, John travels all over the state of Illinois exploring the back roads and country lanes in search of the forgotten and obscure.

John has found that each town and village has a story to tell.  Come explore these fascinating glimpses of the past to re-capture the history of Illinois and the spirit of its people.

All programming is free and open to the public.  Light refreshments will be served following the presentation.  The facility is accessible to persons with disabilities.  For more information, visit Windmill Cultural Center and de Immigrant Facebook page or call the Fulton Tourism director at 815-589-3925.
