New Exhibit at River Arts Center

Event Details

This event finished on 17 September 2017

The photography of Jerry Dahl of Clinton will be the featured exhibit at the River Arts Center in Clinton, and the Muddy River Camera Club will feature their works in our large front window.  This exhibit will be on display from Wednesday, August 2, through Sunday, September 17.   A reception for the photographers will be held on Sunday, August 6, from 1:30 to 4:00 PM with a talk at 2PM.  Located at 229-5th Ave. So., the gallery is open at no charge from Wednesday through Sunday from 1-4 PM.
Jerry Dahl, now a retired photojournalist,  is known to many in the area as he was the photographer for the Clinton Herald for thirty-five years.  He graduated from Ames High School in 1963 and attended Iowa State University.  He worked for the Waterloo Courier for five years and the Cedar Falls Record for two years. He is a former member of the Iowa Photographers Association and the National Press Association, and has earned a variety of awards for news, features, and sports photography during his career.
This exhibit is digital photography, primarily from his favorite places along the Mississippi River and its backwaters.  In the spring he photographs the migration of ducks and other wading birds.  Summer and fall have been opportunities to find smaller insects and butterflies.  Nearly all of the photographs are from the Clinton area.
The Muddy River Camera Club has been in existence for several years, and is open to all from amateur to professional with any type of camera.  They meet on the second Mondays of the month at the Lyons Depot and share ideas and photos they have taken along with tips for improving their skills.  On the fourth Mondays they generally have a theme which could be the river or wildlife, and also have taken trips to Chicago and various parks to enrich their subject areas.
