Clinton Police encourage anyone with information about a body recovered from the river on Sunday to contact the department

Emergency crews recovered the body of a man from the Mississippi River on Sunday afternoon.  A statement issued by the Clinton Police Department outlined the incident.

The Clinton Police Department and Clinton Fire Department and Clinton County Sheriff’s Department responded to the report of a body in the river. That call was about 12:50 and the body was spotted by persons boating on the river.
Using the Clinton Fire Department rescue boat the body was recovered from the main channel just north of the Highway 30 Bridge at about 1:10.

The case is under investigation by the Clinton Police Department and the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy is planned for today at the state office.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of the family.
