MAN INJURED SUNDAY IN MISSISSIPPI RIVER TUBING ACCIDENT

A Fulton, Illinois man was injured Sunday afternoon in a tubing accident on the Mississippi River near Clinton. ‘Read more’ for details from the CFD & DNR on the incident.The Clinton Fire Department responded the call with the Fire-Rescue Craft and four personnel to the scene in the area behind A-D-M.

31 year Kurt Parker, and another passenger were on a tube being pulled by a boat when the rope broke while making a turn causing the tube to crash into the rocky shoreline at approximately 1 p.m. The other passenger fell off in the water before the tube hit the shore and was not injured.

Parker was thrown on shore and knocked unconscious. He was treated on the fire rescue boat and transported to the shore at South 5t Street and transported to the hospital.

He was treated for facial and head injuries at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton and then flown to University Hospitals in Iowa City.

The Clinton Fire Department, Clinton Police Department and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources were involved in the call.

The incident remains under investigation by the DNR.
