August weather was cooler than normal.

Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaesss says the overall temperature was 70.9 degrees and that was below the normal for the month of 72.6.
He says the highest reading was 91 on the 2nd. That was the only day with a 90 or above temperature and Blaess says the normal is four days.
The lowest reading was 51 recorded n the 24th and 25th.

The precipitation for the month was about 8-tenths of an inch above normal with about 5.21 inches.  The normal precipitation in August is 4.41 inches.
Blaess says the majority of the rain came in three events. He says there was 1.49 inches on the 9th and 10th – and then 2.43 inches on the 18th and another 1.2   on the 28th and 29th.

The ‘year to date’ precipitation is 4.63 inches above normal with a29.55 inches during the first eight months.

Blaess says over the ‘summer’ of June, July and August it was coolest period since 2009 with an overall average temperature about 3 degrees below normal total.
The weather observer says there were 7 days over the three months with 90 or above temperatures and the normal is 14.

For September, Blaess says you can expect nearly 3 inches of rain and day with temperatures in the 90’s.
The average high today (Sept. 1) is 81 and the average low is 60. By the end of the month those averages have dropped to 71 and 48.
