Suspect charged in last week’s shooting incident

Charges have now been filed against an individual in last week’s shooting incident in Clinton.
Clinton Police announced the charges in the case.
On October 22nd Police and Fire Department crews were called to the 100 block of South 4th Street on a report of ‘shots fired.’ Emergency crews found 23 year old Reginald Cooper with multiple gun shot wounds. Cooper was transported to the Mercy Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

A few days later – on October 25th, police took 26 year old George P. Wesley into custody on a probation violation warrant from Scott County.
On Friday Wesley was charged with Willful Injury-causing serious injury and a charge of a felon with a firearm in connection to the shooting.

Formal court papers had been available by Friday afternoon. Those documents would not be available until Monday at the Clerk Of Court Office according the County Attorney’s Office.
