Clinton police are investigating a case of dog that was dumped in a dumpster.

Clinton Police Captain Tom Bohle reports the department was called about 1:15 on Monday and the Animal Control Officer responded to the Regency Inn on Lincolnway to a report a dog found inside a dumpster.

The Animal Control Officer took the dog to a local veterinary clinic for assessment. Due to numerous injuries, the dog did not survive.

No arrests have been made.
Captain Bohle said the case could be anything from abandonment to abuse, to neglect, to torture depending on the circumstances under City Ordinance 91.005. But-he said it is too early in the investigation to make any determination if it is criminal or not.

The incident is under investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Clinton Police Department at (563) 243-1458
