At-Large Council Member Grant Wilke Submits His Resignation From The Council

The topic of filling a vacancy on the Clinton City Council will be a topic on the council’s Committee Of The Whole agenda for January 5th.
At-Large Council Member Grant Wilke submitted his resignation from the council. No explanation was included in the letter. **update 12/26/2015 4:15 pm* Grant Wilke declined a KROS request for an interview**
Clinton Mayor Mark Vulich distributed the information on the resignation late Thursday.
The mayor said the council will discuss the issue at the first meeting in January.

The mayor included information from the city ordinances on filling a vacancy. The council can choose to fill the vacancy within 40 days. If the council chooses to appoint a person to fill the seat-there could be a citizen petition to call for a special election.
Or, the council could opt for a special election.
The person filling the vacancy would fill out the remainder of the term.
Wilke was elected in November 2013 and took office in January 2014 for a four year term.
