Drone no-fly zone around the Clinton Municipal Airport.

Clinton Airport Manager Mike Nass says they haven’t had any issues yet, but wanted to proactive in reminding people about the no-fly zone around the airport.  ‘Read more official statement and links for information plus no fly zone map of the airport.

Effective December 21, 2015 all owners of drones and/or remote control aircraft weighing more than 0.55 pounds and less than 55 pounds must register with the Federal Aviation Administration’s Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) registry before they fly outdoors. Cost for registration is $5 and may be completed online by visiting www.faa.gov/uas/registration . Drone and remote control aircraft operators who do not register could face civil and criminal penalties.
Per FAA regulations, drone and remote control aircraft operators must contact Airport Authorities if operating within a 5 mile radius of any airport. Information on restricted flight areas in the vicinity of Clinton Municipal Airport can be viewed using AirMap and B4UFLY apps on your tablet or smartphone or by visiting the Clinton Municipal Airport’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/FlyClinton and website www.clintonairport.us Drone operators in Clinton County should contact Clinton Municipal Airport at 563.242.3292 if they will be within 5 miles of the airport’s center, and may not operate any drones in restricted “No Fly” zones.
