Last month was warmer than normal

March 2016 is the 8th warmest March in Clinton weather records back to 1879.  ‘Read more’ for further details.

Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaess says the overall temperature was about 45 (45.3) degrees-and that’s about six degrees above historical average (39.3).

Blaess says 2012 is the warmest March on record with the overall temperature of about 54.

The highest temperature was 78 recorded on March 8th the lowest was 13 on the 2nd.

The Clinton area weather observer says it was also the 7th month in a row of above normal temperature.

Blaess says there was about 3.7 of an inch of precipitation during March.  He says that’s above the normal of 2.24 inches of precipitation.

There was some ‘frozen precipitation’ of snow, sleet and hail that Blaess says totaled 2-point-4 inches and that’s below the normal of about three inches for the month.

For the snow season of October through March, Blaess says there was about 17 inches of snow.  He says that’s below the average of 30 inches of snow.

For the 2016 year to date precipitation, Blaess says there’s been 4.75 of an inch of precipitation and that’s below the average for the first three months about 5.32 inches.

The Clinton area weather observer says for April you can expect about half an inch of snow and about 3 inches of rain overall. Blaess says the average high on April First is 57 and the average low is 35 and those rise to 69 and 46 by the end of April.
