County Board, School Board & City Council highlight the meetings this week


The Clinton School Board will show off the Innovation Room at CHS & City Council could approve seeking grants from Emergency Management Agency for rescue boat and ATV-see the meeting schedule this week.

The Clinton County Board will once again consider whether to O-K the hiring of a new head of the Clinton County Justice Coordinating Commission.  That has been a topic since the first and only director of the effort to reduce overcrowding at the Clinton County Jail and establish a space needs study for a new jail recently resigned.  The board met recently and had a planning session with the Commission and came to a general agreement to move ahead with approving hiring a new director.

Previously the County Board had several questions about the need for a new director.

That resolution is part of the agenda for the meeting that starts at 9:15 this morning at the Clinton County Administration Building.

Members of the Clinton Community School Board will meet at 5:30 this evening as a “Committee of the Whole: in the Innovation Room of Clinton High School. The Board will be updated on the new middle school construction project. The Board will also be updated on the purpose of the Innovation Room at the high school.

The members will also discuss the upcoming legislative session with State Representative Mary Wolfe and State Senator Rita Hart.

Tuesday is the regular meeting of the Clinton City Council.

The council will consider the formal approval of new health care plans for city employees coupled with an employee contribution for that coverage.  The issues had resulted in tie votes at a couple of previous meeting, but the plans and contribution were approved at the previous committee of the whole session.

The council will also consider approval of resolutions to endorse seeking grants from the Clinton County Emergency Management Agency for the new Fire Department Rescue Boat and a Fire Department A-T-V.  The council will also consider the commemorative designation of Riverview Drive as Veteran’s Memorial Drive.

During the Committee Of The Whole Session the Council will consider the ‘split’ of the sales money from land in the Railport for new businesses that was reached with the County.  The Council will also hear about plans to re-organize the Building and Neighborhood Services Department/

The Northeast School also is meeting this week on Tuesday evening at 6 o’clock at the Elementary Library.

The board will hear several updates on various issues including a balanced calendar.  The Northeast Board will also consider several contracts for their construction project.
