University of Iowa drops in annual ‘party school’ ranking

The University of Iowa’s efforts to reverse its image as a “party school” may be working. The Princeton Review has released its annual ranking of the top party schools in the nation.

The U-I ranked second last year and in 2014 and was number one on the list in 2013. But, this year, the Iowa City campus has fallen to 6th. In 2009, the University of Iowa developed a plan to address binge drinking on campus.

In 2010, Iowa City passed an ordinance banning anyone under the age of 21 from bars after 10 o’clock.

The Princeton Review placed the University of Wisconsin on top of this year’s top party schools list, followed by West Virginia, Illinois, Lehigh, and Bucknell University.
