October was warmer than usual

October ended as the 6th warmest October in Clinton weather records to 1879.

Official weather observer Jim Blaess says the overall temperature was 59.4 degrees 60 which is more than six degrees above average (52.9 degrees).

the highest reading was 87 on the 17th and lowest was 33 on the 13th.

Blaess says that is 4th time since 1891 that it did not drop to freezing in the month of October.  The last time was 1973.

Precipitation was about average with 2.48 inches of rain which is 4-tenths above normal (2.44 inches).

For the year to date, the weather observer reports 39.04 inches of precipitation which is nearly nine inches above normal (30.31 inches) through the first ten months.

For November, Blaess says there is an average of 2.12 inches of precipitation includes 1.6 inches of snow.

The average high today is 57 and the low is 38 and by the end of the month those are 40 and 24.

Blaess pointed out that November 2015 was the 9th warmest on record since 1870.  He also pointed out that last year despite the warmer than normal overall temperature there was 7 inches of snow in a 24 hour period on 20th–21st which tied for the most snow in a November 24 hour period since 1898
