Snowfall total top 10 for 24 hour records in December

Sunday’s snowfall total was eight inches according to Clinton Area Weather Observer Jim Blaess.

He says that is the most 24 hour snowfall in December since December 11th – 2000 when there was 8.4 inches.

Blaess says that it also the 8th largest 24 snowfall in a December in record to 1893.

The weather observer added that the normal snowfall for December is 8.7 inches.


Garbage collection in Clinton delayed by the snowfall-check ‘read more’ for the details.

Collection of Solid Waste and Recycling WILL BE DELAYED this week due to the snowstorm.  There will be NO solid waste/recycling collection on Monday, Dec. 4th – Monday’s route will be collected on Tuesday, Tuesday on Wednesday and so on, with Friday’s route collected on Saturday, Dec. 10th – this change is to allow city employees to snow plow the streets.
