Clinton Mayor issues announcement that councilmember has resigned to take seat on County Board

Preparing to take a seat at the Clinton County Board meeting – Tom Determann has now resigned his Clinton City Council seat.

Determann serves as an at-large council member and was elected to the Clinton County Board in the November election.

He has declined to reveal his intentions about resigning from the council.  County Attorney Mike Wolfe has issued an opinion that Determann could not serve on both bodies at the same time.

Clinton Mayor Mark Vulich-in an email to other council members, city staff and the media- released the short resignation not late Monday night.  Determann stated he was resigning his council seat effective December 31st 2016.

Vulich said the vacancy on the council will be a topic for the Committee Of The Whole session on January 10th.

The terms for Clinton County officials elected in November officially begin today-January 3rd.

The Clinton County Board has their first meeting of the year this morning at 9:15.  At that meeting the board will elect a new chair and handle other first of the year business.
