CAMANCHE DEATH INVESTIGATION

CAMANCHE, Iowa — On February 1, 2017, Camanche Police Department was dispatched to 616 5th Avenue reference shots being fired in the vicinity.  Upon arrival, law enforcement found Nicholas Luskey (22) lying near a vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound to the mid torso.  Luskey was transported to Mercy Medical Center and subsequently to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City where he was pronounced dead at approximately 2:44 PM.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday, February 2nd at the University of Iowa’s Decedent Care Unit.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) was called in to assist with the investigation. The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released when it becomes available.  Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and do not believe the public has reason to be concerned of being in danger.

The Camanche Police Department was assisted by the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the Clinton County Sheriff’s office and the Camanche Fire and Ambulance.
