Jackson County jail escapees back in custody

Two suspects who escaped from the Jackson County Jail were arrested in Clinton.

19 year old Andrew Combs and 20 year old Brian Wiley had escaped from custody in Maquoketa on February 28th.

The pair stole a truck and fled the community.

Investigators followed several leads and in that process looked at an incident the Farm and Fleet store in Clinton on Wednesday March First.  Thru surveillance video at the store, investigators confirmed the pair entered the store and departed with an item they had not paid for.  They were seen entering a truck in the parking lot matching the description of the truck stolen in Maquoketa.

Later on Wednesday, the truck was found in the 500 block of 4th Avenue South.

Jackson County officials were notified today that the suspects had been apprehended in Clinton.

Clinton Police report the developed information on the location of the suspects.  With assistance from the Camanche Police, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol took the suspects into custody after a short foot pursuit in the 800 block of South Third Sreet.

Wiley and Combs were charged locally with the interference with officials acts and will be released to Jackson County authorities.

Additional charges of Escape and Criminal Mischief are being added in Jackson County.
