The Clinton City Council meets in a Committee Of The Whole Session on Tuesday.

At the meeting, the council will consider the issue of fireworks again.  The topic is on the agenda and would be chance for the public to provide input on the use of fireworks that would be allowed under new state law. The council kept the current prohibition on the use of fireworks in the city in place.

The council will also consider a proposal to increase the salaries for the mayor and council.

City Administrator Matt Brooke –in a memo to the council – wrote that it has been eight years since the last increase in compensation for the elected officials.  The proposal is to increase the council member compensation from six-thousand dollars a year to nine-thousand dollars a year.  The mayor’s compensation would increase from the current 15-thousand dollars a year to 18-thousand dollars a year.

The raises would go into effect after the next election for those offices.
