4th most rain in a 24 hour period in July in Clinton weather records

The overnight rain Friday into Saturday morning measured between 3 and 4 inches. ‘Read more’ for the details.

Clinton Area Weather Observer Jim Blaess says the total from Friday night about 7 o’clock to 6 o’clock Saturday morning was 3.67 inches.

He says that ties as the 4th most rain in a 24 hour period in July since 1879.  He says it is the same total as a storm on July 9th – 1986.

Blaess says that since Wednesday through Saturday morning the total has been five inches.

For the month of July, he says, the total rain is 6.19 which compares to the normal of 3.60.

Blaess says for the year-to-date the precipitation total is 27.93 inches which compares to the entire first seven months of 20.57.
