July Weather

The month was cooler than normal and was had the 9th most precipitation.

July ended a little cooler than normal.  Clinton Area Official Weather Observer Jim Blaess reports the overall average temperature was 74.5 and that is four-tenths of an inch below the historical average the month of 74.9.

The highest temperature was 89 on the 6th and the 19th while the lowest temperature was 56 recorded on July 30th.

Blaess says that is the 7th time since 1893 there were no days with 90 or above temperatures.  He adds the normal is 6 days with 90 or above.

Blaess says precipitation for the month is 7.57 inches which is the 9th wettest July in local weather records to 1879.  The top spot is July 1926 with over nine inches of rain (9.04).

Blaess says the 3.67 officially recorded on July 21st and 22nd is tied for the 4th most rain in a 24 hour period in July since 1879.

For the year-to-date, Blaess says, the precipitation is 29.31 inches which compares to the first seven month average of 20.51 inches.

Blaess says for August the average precipitation is 4.41 inches.  He says there typically is four days with 90 or above.

But, the Clinton Weather Observer says the overall average temperature starts to drop during August.  Blaess says the average high of August First is 84 and the average low is 64 and those drop to 81 and 60 by the end of the month/
