11th snowiest February and 18th snowiest winter-so far

Monday’s snowfall total 4.2 inches measured by Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaess  He said that made February’s total – so far- to 14.5 inches.  Blaess says that makes this month the 11th snowiest February since the record started in 1888.

For the snow seasons, Blaess says this winter with 43.2 inches of snow is the 18th snowiest winter season since 1887.

The snow season starts in October and runs through March.

A six degrees below zero reading on Saturday made the 30th day this winter season of zero or below weather according to Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaess.  He says that is the most since there were 31 days in the winter of 1978-79.

He also said it is the 12th most zero or below days since records started in the 1892-93 winter season.

The weather changed today (Tuesday) as Blaess reported a high of 50.  He says it is not a record for the date, but added the last time the temperature reached 50 on December 4th last year.
