CMS holds active shooter drill

The drill is complete and the school district would like to thank the Clinton County Emergency Management team for their assistance.

On Monday October 1st, 2018 Clinton Middle School will be conducting an ALICE Evacuation Drill. ALICE drills are used as best practice when dealing with an active or armed intruder. CCSD administration officials feel it is necessary to review procedures with students and staff to prepare for this type of situation. School district administration has worked with Clinton’s Emergency Management, the Clinton Police Department, and Clinton Fire Departments to ensure a safe and orderly drill as all groups will be present during the drill.

The drill will involve a simulated armed intruder in the school. It is important to point out, the person will not have any weapons, but will be impersonating an armed intruder. CMS administration will be reading from a script that will clearly repeatedly indicate, “This is a drill, this is a drill.”

ALICE trained staff have reviewed with students in preparation for this event. Students have been trained in ALICE procedures and have been supported by having their questions answered. Students and teachers will evacuate out of the building
