Council denies massage parlor permit

In a brief meeting on Friday the Clinton City Council denied a permit for a massage parlor with no comments.  The action was part of the consent agenda and there was no discussion about any of the items.

The business applied as the Asian Style Spa at 1826 North Second Street.

The resolution states the were no fire code violations and no violations of state or city ordinance.

The resolution states the applicant has failed to satisfy the ‘good moral character’ requirements of the city code for massage.  The issue of updating the local massage parlor permit rules has been a topic for the council and further refinements are pending.  parlors.  The report mentions some of the questionable advertising for massage parlor facilities done by the applicant for this and other places of business she operates.

The council also received several emails from other local licensed massage therapists in the community urging the council to deny the permit.
