State Disaster Declaration Issued for Clinton County

Clinton County has received a Disaster Declaration from the State Of Iowa for individual assistance due to flooding.

Emergency Management Agency Director Chance Kness says the flooding has been a long-term issue since mid-March.

He says some homes in the Swan Slough in Camanche have been impacted by flooding and in recent days some areas in the north end of Clinton on Garfield have been impacted by the flooding.  Kness says that is why he requested the declaration for individual assistance.

Kness says the aid is income based and anyone who wants to apply should contact the local Community Action Agency.

The program provides grants up to $5,000 per household to cover home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food, and for the expense of temporary housing, if applicable. Original receipts are required for those seeking reimbursement for actual expenses related to storm recovery.

Clinton County residents who may benefit from this assistance are encouraged to contact Community Action of Eastern Iowa directly at 563-243-5220, or toll free at 866-243-5220, to begin the application process.

Applications will be accepted until Friday, June 14, 2019, or until all funding provided for this program has been expended.

The Red Cross  has announced the Clinton County shelter has been placed in standby status.  If there is a need for assistance, please call the number below.

If emergency sheltering is needed for Clinton County residents impacted by this week’s flooding along the Mississippi River please contact The American Red Cross at 1-800-340-4081.
