New Jail Opening Delayed

The opening of the new Clinton County Law Center and Jail has been delayed due to some construction issues.  A June 22nd open house date had been planned.

Clinton County Facilities Manger Corey Johnson updated the County Board on the construction progress at the new facility.

Johnson said an air handling system to provide the ability to pinpoint where a fire is located, and is tied to the fire alarm system was missed in the blue prints.  Johnson said waiting now on the design and installation of the system compounds the delays.

Johnson said the system is required by code.  He says it was part of a recent change order.

County Board Chair Dan Srp says the delays are frustrating, but the work is needed..

Johnson said there were other minor construction issues-with some of those in the entryway lobby area.  He says he wants to make sure the facility is complete and ready to operate before hosting an open house.

The County Facilities Manager says the delay would likely be at least a month.
