Charges filed in Morrison Shooting

official statement on the investigation from Whiteside County officials

On Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at approximately 8:30 pm, multiple 9-1-1 calls were received of a shooting at 507 West Main Street, Morrison.  A 24-year-old female and an 18-year-old male, both residents at this address, were victims of the shooting.  A suspect vehicle fled the scene.  The 24-year-old female was transported to CGH Medical Center in Sterling where she remains and in stable condition.  The 18-year-old male was first transported to the Morrison Community Hospital and then airlifted to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. His condition is critical but stable.

On Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at approximately 1:23 am, Jeramie M. House, age 24 of Morrison, was taken into custody without incident.  Mr. House is currently being held here, at the Whiteside County Jail pending arraignment before the Circuit Court of the 14th Judicial Circuit of Whiteside County.

The Morrison Police Department has filed criminal complaints for review with Whiteside County State’s Attorney Terry Costello’s Office, charging Mr. House with:

2 Counts of Attempt – First Degree Murder (Class X Felonies)

2 Counts of Aggravated Battery (Class X Felonies)

5 Counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 4 Felonies)

1 Count of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon

This is an active investigation.

The public is reminded that these are merely charges and all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
