County Supervisors set-up ‘social distancing’ for their meeting today

Clinton County officials are discussing how to address the coronavirus outbreak in county operations.  In the effort of public safety-the County Board room had every-other-chair removed for ‘social distancing’ of audience members.

At a meeting on Monday the Supervisors generally agreed that if an employee wanted to use FMLA to not come in to work they could use the parameters of that policy to take as various types of time off or sick leave.  But, if the buildings were closed due to the situation that employees would be paid.

Also-if the buildings were closed to the public each office should identify a minimal staff to work to insure county business continued-such as processing mail in the treasurer’s office for car registrations and tax payments.

Department heads and elected officials will also be submitting business with their offices that could be completed on-line or via email and those suggestions would be promoted publicly within a few days.

County Board members also discussed various options to hold a meeting if they were not coming to the Administration building and comply with the open meeting laws.

The Supervisors have called for special meeting at noon tomorrow for more discussion and possible action on this topic.
