March 2020 weather was warmer and wetter than usual.

Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaess says the overall temperature was 43.4 degrees.  That was 4.1 degrees above normal of 39.3 degrees.  Blaess says that makes last month the 12th warmest March in Clinton records to 1879.

The lowest temperature during the month recorded by the weather observer was 26 on the 7th.  Blaess added that’s the 2nd warmest low temperature in March to 1888.  The first spot is 29 degrees recorded in March of 1932.

The highest reading was 69 on the 8th.

Blaess reported the precipitation was 3.48 inches for the month which is 1.24 inches above the normal of 2.24.

There was 3.3 inches of snow in the month which Blaess says is just above the normal of 3.1.

There’s been 5.46 inches of precipitation recorded in the first three months of the year.  Blaess says that is compared to the average of 5.32 inches.

Blaess says in the October through March snow season there was 28.2 inches of snow.  That is below the average of 30.5 inches.  Blaess added that in the 2018-2019 snow season there was 46.1 inches of snow.

In April, Blaess says there is 3.05 inches of precipitation which includes one-half-of-an-inch snow.  He says the temperatures rise from an average high of 57 and low of 35 on the first to averages of 69 and 46 by April 30th.
