Clinton Police were involved in a stand-off situation Wednesday evening.

The incident began about 5 P-M when officers went to 1833 27th Avenue South to serve an arrest warrant on 34 year old Nicholas Fox. When officers arrived they confirmed Fox was inside. The department stated that officers entered the residence and while trying to locate Fox they learned he may be armed. Officers retreated from the home and requested additional law enforcement personnel. Officers also evacuated several nearby homes as a precaution.

Additional law enforcement officers arrived, including members of the Gateway Area Hazardous Entry and Approach Team and the Gateway Area Crisis Negotiations Team. Communication was established with Fox and he surrendered to law enforcement just after 8 o’clock. He was taken into custody on the warrant for probation violation and taken to the Clinton County jail.

The Clinton Police Department was assisted by the Camanche Police, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Fulton, Illinois Police, Clinton County Communications, Clinton County Emergency Management and the Clinton Fire Department.
