June precipitation is 9th on the list since 1878

June ended with a mix of temperatures and precipitation for the month.  Read the details of the month here –

Clinton area official weather observer Jim Blaess says the overall temperature for the month was 72-degrees and that’s about one degree above normal for the month.
But, he says there were no days with 90 or higher temperatures and that is the 13th time since 1891 there hasn’t been a 90 degree day in June. The highest temperature was 88 on the 17th and lowest was 49 on the 13th.

Blaess says precipitation during the month was split between the first half of the month and last half.
He says over the first 16 days of June there was one-point-35 inches of rain and over the final couple of weeks there was nearly 7 inches of rain.
Blaess pointed out that over the final couple of weeks the big rains came on the 19th with nearly 3 inches and on the 29th with just under one inch and on the 30th with just over 2 inches of rain.
The 8-point-34 inches of rain is the most in June since 2000 when there was nearly 9-point-2 inches and it will be the 9th most in the month of June since 1878.
Blaess says one other aspect of the rain total involves the procedures for weather observers. He said the day ends at 6 P-M so the one inch or rain that came after 6 o’clock last evening is technically in the books for July.

The year-to-date precipitation is nearly 19 inches which Blaess says is about 2-point-7 inches above average for the first six months.

For July, Blaess says you can expect about 3-point-7 inches of rain and 6 days with 90 or above temperatures.
