Straight line winds in Clinton-tornado near Thomson, IL on Monday morning

The National Weather Service reports the early Monday storm damage in Clinton was due to ‘straight line winds.’
The damage was generally in the center part of town in the area of the Washington Middle School towards Second Street.

The National Weather Service also confirmed a ‘tornado event’ near Thomson, Illinois early Monday morning.

Based on damage reports the N-W-S says the event started about 2 miles north of Thomson, Illinois about 12:30 Monday morning with a peak of 100-mile an hour winds. The tornado was estimated to be on the ground for about 2 miles and was three-eights of a mile wide and ended 4 miles north of Thompson.
