The separate calls were in the Cameron Oaks area and on South 10th Street.  ‘Read more’ for details on both reports

The first call was about 1:41 A-M to 1131 South 22nd Street – in the Cameron Oaks neighborhood.
The Clinton Fire Department responded with a ladder truck and two engines plus two ambulances and a command vehicle.

The first units on the scene reported heavy smoke coming through the roof of the structure. It took about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control enough to allow fire fighters to enter the home and finishing extinguishing the fire. After an hour of battle the fire it was declared ‘out.’

The reports show that five off-duty personnel from the Fire Department were called in due to the extent of the fire. The Camanche and Fulton Departments also provided assistance. Alliant Energy and the Clinton Police Department were also at the scene providing assistance.

A second fire was reported at about 4:30 A-M at 1008 South 10th Street.
First units on the scene reported a fire in the attic of the front bedroom with light smoke inside the home.
A ceiling fan was opened up by removing the sheet rock and the fire was extinguished. The fire damage was limited to the area of the attic with some water and smoke damage to the first floor of the home.
Crews remained on the scene for about an hour to insure the fire was out and finish the investigation.
The cause was traced back to an electrical junction box in the attic. Damage is estimated at about 10-thousand dollars.

American Red Cross volunteers answered the call for help on Wednesday morning – responding to that fire at a home. Red Cross Disaster Action Team volunteers met with the family-that included 14 individuals- living in the home offering assistance based their needs that included lodging, food and clothing.

The Disaster Action Team is a group of specially trained volunteers who respond to home fires when called upon at any time of the day or night. Red Cross case workers will continue to work with all of those affected over the coming days to determine if there are other ways the Red Cross can help with their recoveries.
