Latest storm snowfall

In the Monday night into Tuesday storm there was 4.4 inches of snow according to official weather observer Jim Blaess.

He says the snow started about 4:30 Monday afternoon and ended early Tuesday morning.

The snow contained only about a quarter of an inch of precipitation.

For January, Blaess said the snowfall total is 7.7 inches. The average for the month is 9.4 inches.

The weather observer said seven inches of the snow remains on the ground and that will contribute the cold weather predicted over the next few days.
