Clinton County woman found dead outsider her home

A rural Clinton County woman died earlier this week when she was outdoors and fell in a snow drift at her home. According to the sheriff’s office in a statement issued this afternoon-deputies were dispatched about 10:30 Monday morning to the Teeds Grove area. The report was that a woman had fallen into a hole in her backyard. When emergency responders arrived the woman was found to be deceased.
An investigation revealed that 69 year old Ruth McGinnis had exited her walkout basement into her backyard and apparently fell into a deep snow drift. The Sheriff’s Office investigation stated that appears she was not able to get out of the snow drift. It is unknown how long McGinnis was outside.
An autopsy was performed but the cause and manner of her death have not been released at this time.
