CPL to Accept Food For Fines During National Library Week, April 13-18

Clinton Public Library will host a Food For Fines charity drive in recognition of National Library Week from April 13-18, 2015.

The library will accept non-perishable food items in exchange for fines on patron accounts. For each item received one dollar will be credited to the account, with a maximum of fifty dollars per person. No money will be exchanged and the Food For Fines program does not include replacement fees for lost, damaged, and billed library items.

All donations will be distributed to local pantries and charitable organizations. Eligible food items include peanut butter (plastic jars only); canned fruits, meats, or vegetables; canned or boxed soups or meals; and cereals, rice, pasta, beans, and other dried goods. Items in glass jars or ones that are damaged, opened, repackaged, or expired will not be accepted. Soda and candy will not be accepted.

Patrons can bring all donations to the main library at 306 8th Avenue South beginning 9:00 a.m. Monday April 13th through 5:00 p.m. Saturday April 18th. For more details contact Clinton Public Library Director Brad Wiles at 563-242-9115 or bwiles@clintonpubliclibrary.us.
