City settles contract with one bargaining unit

A new three year contract has been approved with the City workers in the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. The council approved the contract a meeting this week. ‘Read more’ for details

The agreement sets a wage increase of 2.25 percent increase in the first and then another 2.25 percent increase in year two and a two and a half percent increase in the third year.. That is an average of 2-point-37 percent. Insurance contributions from the employees will increase from the current 3-percent to 4-percent in the first year and then 7-percent in year two and 9-percent in the third year.
The proposed wage increase for the upcoming budget of 2 and a quarter percent was the amount budgeted for wages.

The union covers employees in the Public Words Department Division plus the Street and Solid Waste Division and Transportation and Fleet Maintenance Division plus the Water Pollution Control Plant Division.
