Enrollment Up in 2009 in Bridgepoint Education
(Clinton) -- Bridgepoint Education, the California-based parent company of Ashford University, has announced the results for 2009.
Total student enrollment at both Ashford University and the University of the Rockies increased 70.1 percent to 53,688 students; that compared with 31,558 students as the end of the fourth quarter of 2008. As of December 31, 2009, 99-percent of the total student population accessed their classes exclusively on-line.
Andrew Clark, Chief Executive Officer of Bridgepoint Education, says that “our solid results continue to demonstrate the strength and differentiation of our operating model.”
Total student enrollment is expected to be between 69,000 and 71,000 as of December 31, 2010. Revenue is also expected to increase due to a 5-percent tuition increase for online students at Ashford University and the University of the Rockies which will go into effect beginning on or after April first of this year.
