The contract for the new concession stand and restrooms at the new baseball/softball complex was awarded at the Clinton School Board Meeting last night (Monday).
The Marcucci Construction firm was the low bidder for 51-thousand 400 dollars for the project at the fields located at the Eagle Heights Elementary School.
The funds for the project are coming from the Boosters Club Restoring Royalty Effort.
Also at the meeting-School Board President Jim McGraw noted that the board probably had not done enough publicly to highlight the donations from the booster club for the upgrades in the school district’s athletic facilities.
McGraw used a couple of oversized checks to highlight the nearly one-point-three million dollars the booster club had donated. McGraw said the strong showing of C-H-S athletics this year can be attributed in part to the improvements in facilities funded by Restoring Royalty
Renovations at the C-H-S football stadium and the new baseball-softball complex have been the main improvements, but Restoring Royalty leaders say they are continuing the effort to make further improvements.
In other action the board approved the retirements of 14 employees under an early retirement incentive. The loss of those teachers totals 385 years of teaching experience.
The board approved a series of athletic sharing agreements at the meeting. Agreements were approved with the DeWitt, Camanche, Northeast and Prince of Peace for boys swimming-Northeast for boys tennis and Prince of Peace for football, wrestling, boys soccer and boys tennis. Agreements were also approved with Camanche and Prince of Peace to participate in girls soccer – plus Camanche, DeWitt and Northeast and Prince of Peace for sharing girls swimming – an agreement was also approved with Northeast and Prince of Peace for sharing in girls tennis
