Clinton Social Security Office Will Close
(Clinton) -- The Social Security Administration has announced that, effective September 28th, the Clinton Social Security Office will be closed and consolidated with the Davenport office.
An announcement sent out late Friday said that “the move will save the agency money.” The Clinton office is located at 226 Fourth Avenue South. The service at this location will be discontinued because Congress significantly cut Social Security’s administrative budget. Residents and organizations in Clinton’s service area will be able to obtain services at Social Security’s Davenport office.
Starting Monday, October 1, residents and organizations in Clinton County will now be served by the office located at 4319 North Brady Street, Davenport, IA 52806. Office hours at the Davenport office location are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except federal holidays.
The Clinton City Council had approved a resolution which was forwarded to the Social Security Administration to keep the Clinton office open. Also, several Legislators in Washington, D. C. had appealed to the Social Security Administration to keep the Clinton Office open.
Most Social Security services do not require a visit to an office. For example, anyone wishing to apply for benefits, sign up for direct deposit, replace a Medicare card, obtain a proof of income letter or inform us of a change of address or telephone number may do so at www.socialsecurity.gov or by dialing our toll-free number: 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778).
