2 Council members request state audit
(Clinton) -- John Rowland and Paul Gassman submitted the request to the state agency
Update with the State Auditor's Office has been added
Two Clinton City Council members have requested the State Auditor’s Office re-examine the city’s financial books.
At Large Council Member John Rowland and 4th Ward Council Member Paul Gassman submitted the letter to the state office and informed the local media of their request.
Much of the concern cited in the communication centers on the sewer and garbage collection issues.
Rowland told KROS he’s had concerns and has heard from a number of citizens who want an outside audit.
The request was sent to Susan Battani the Director of the Financial Audit Division at the State Auditor’s office. Battani told KROS NEWS that when they receive the request they will notify the city and independent auditing firm. She says they will start the process to decide how or whether they will proceed and what the scope of the request is and what other information they made need. Battani said there is no cost to the city for the re-audit. If the state office proceeds, Battani says they will have to "fit in" the work with other already scheduled work.
KROS has also contacted City Administrator Jeffrey Horne for comment.
