Meetings this week

(Clinton) -- City Council and School Board both meet this week-here is a tentative schedule of meetings this week.

The Clinton County Board of Supervisors will begin their meeting at 9:15 a.m. this morning (Mon) in the Board Office of the County Administration building.

The Clinton School Board has their regular business session today (Monday). The meeting is at the Lyons Middle School at 5:30.

District Financial Officer Jan Culbertson will review the monthly budget report and will also release the certified annual student count.

The board will also discuss continuing the Instructional Support Levy as a support for district funding. The Board has to vote to continue that funding, and a public hearing needs to be held to get public input. There is a recommendation to have the public hearing November 12th at 5:30 p.m.

The Board will also consider a request for supplemental aid from the State of Iowa to offset the negative balance of 893-thousand-843-dollars and 23 cents in special education.

Also during Monday’s school board session, the Board is to accept the retirement letter of Jan Culbertson; her retirement is effective March 31, 2013.

Members of the Board of Trustees for the Clinton Public Library will meet at 5:15 Tuesday in the 2nd floor Library Board room.

Director Amy Birtell will report to the Board. There also will be reports from the building committee, the finance committee and the Clinton County Association of Libraries.

They also will evaluate the performance of Director Amy Birtell. She has been on the job for one year.

Tuesday is the regular meeting of the Clinton City Council. The council has just a few actions on the business agenda.

During the Committee of the Whole session the council will consider a proposed waiver of coverage for employees. An incentive has been proposed if an employee chooses to opt-out of the city’s insurance coverage if they provide proof of coverage under another health insurance. The council is also scheduled to review the latest update of the animal control ordinance.

? The meeting is at 7 o’clock Tuesday at city hall.

The Central Community School Board will meet at 5:30 Wednesday evening for a School Board development session. That meeting will be followed by the regular board meeting at 6 p.m. There will be a construction update. The certified enrollment report will be released. The Board will also discuss a proposed retirement incentive plan for teachers.

Also on the meeting schedule for next week is a special session of the Clinton City Council on October 18th to review the sewer rates, long term control plan and waste water infrastructure. The meeting is at 11 o’clock on October 18th.
