Ashford moves Saturday activities inside
(Clinton) -- Due to threatening weather conditions, Ashford University’s Commencement Celebration activities planned for Saturday, Oct. 13 have been moved from Ashford University Field to the University’s campus at 400 N. Bluff Blvd., Clinton.
Ashford University President, Dr. Elizabeth Tice, says that the commencement planning committee has been monitoring the weather forecast for Clinton all week,” “To ensure the safety and the best experience for our many graduates and their families who have traveled to Clinton, we have made the decision to move the commencement celebration events indoors to various locations on campus.” The fireworks display that was to conclude the celebration at Ashford University Field has been canceled. The commencement celebration begins at 2 p.m. and guests are asked to park at Ashford University Field (537 Ballpark Drive) and ride the shuttle buses, as parking is limited on campus. Ashford staff will be on hand to direct visitors to the various new event locations.
The events already scheduled to be held on campus – a master hooding ceremony at 1 p.m. and an honor student recognition event at 3:30 p.m. – are not affected by the change of plans due to the weather, and both Kehl Arena events will go on as planned in the Durgin Educational Center on campus.
Ashford University’s commencement ceremony, set for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14 at the iWireless Center in Moline, IL, will remain as scheduled with Olympic gold medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee as the keynote speaker. The public is invited to attend.
