Ashford on-campus enrollment

(Clinton) -- Ashford reports increased enrollment

Ashford University's official Clinton on-campus enrollment for the fall 2012 semester is 968 full-time students, making it the largest on-campus student body in the school’s history.

Ashford University vice-president and campus director John Ballheim commented that the increase in enrollment is attributed to the growing reputation of the campus' programs; the student experience; and the university's Academic Scholarship Program, a three-tiered approach for rewarding students for academic excellence. He said "More than 74 percent of Ashford's on-campus students are receiving these academic scholarships,"

The President's Scholarship covers full tuition and is awarded to students with a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. The Provost's Scholarship, an annual award of $12,500, is available to students with a grade-point average between 3.25 and 3.49. The Dean's Scholarship provides $10,000 annually for students with a grade-point average between 3.00 and 3.24.

The Clinton campus director of the private for profit college said "The new student class this fall is the third under our innovative academic scholarship program which continues to attract academically talented students and quality student athletes to Ashford University.” Ballheim added that the modernization of the camps allowed the school to bring high technology applications to almost all of the classrooms and labs.

In concert with increasing on-campus enrollment, the international student population has grown from 57 students from 24 countries in 2011 to 76 students from 31 countries in 2012.

"We believe that our growing school enrollment demonstrates that students appreciate their living-learning experience at Ashford University," Ballheim said.

Some highlights from the company's Third Quarter Results ended September 30, 2012, are as follows:

Total student enrollment at period end was 91,358.

Revenue increased to $252.1 million from $242.8 million for the same period in 2011.

Operating income decreased to $49.7 million from $69.8 million for the same period in 2011.

Net income was $31.4 million compared with net income of $43.8 million for the same period in 2011.

Fully diluted earnings per common share was $0.56 compared with $0.78 for the same period in 2011.

Student Enrollment: Total student enrollment at the Company's academic institutions, Ashford University and University of the Rockies, was 91,358 students at September 30, 2012, compared with 90,597 students for the same period in 2011.

New student enrollments for the third quarter of 2012 at Bridgepoint Education's academic institutions were approximately 20,500 compared with combined new student enrollments of approximately 22,000 for the same period in 2011.
